Program Description

Program Details

When parents choose to leave their children with a babysitter, they are looking for someone who is mature and fully prepared to handle emergency situations. Children want their babysitter to be lots of fun and creative.

This interactive, hands-on, three-hour class will help prepare your son or daughter to be the best babysitter on the block! This class, for tweens and teens age 11-17, covers:

  • Infant and child care.
  • Child development.
  • Basic first aid.
  • Choking rescue for infants and children.
  • Injury prevention.
  • How to handle emergencies.
  • Troubleshooting.
  • Healthy hints for meals and snacks.
  • Safe marketing.

Participants must register in advance and complete a short homework assignment prior to attending.  Participants will receive a certificate of completion upon completing the course.

Snacks will be provided.

This program was made possible through a generous grant from the Library Initiative for Teens & Tweens.
