Caroline Kautsire is originally from Malawi, Africa, and is currently an English literature and writing professor at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston. She is the author of the book What Kind of Girl? and has published poetry and flash fiction that explores themes such as searching for identity, social justice, and women’s empowerment. Also a stage actress and director, Caroline was nominated for best-supporting actress by the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres for her performance as Trinculo in William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. She also teaches public speaking and has given several inspirational talks at colleges in Boston as well as organizations that focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. In 2020, she was selected by the town of Weymouth to recite her poetry for the Black Lives Matter Peace Vigil regarding the passing of George Floyd. She has also been certified as one of the key speakers for an African Young Scholars Summit for The Elite Foundation, where she inspired over 240 young professionals across Africa to strive for academic excellence. Caroline was also recently featured in WCVB Chronicle, The Boston Globe and The Patriot Ledger as an upcoming writer in the Boston area.
